The Bridgewater Sing-Off:

The Bridgewater Sing-Off is a musical talent competition being sponsored by The Kimberly A. Nelson Foundation and organized by the Friends of the Foundation. Participation is limited to current BRHS students including Bridgewater students attending Somerset County Vo-Tech.

Proceeds from the event will directly benefit our scholarship program for eligible BRHS students as well as provide direct grants to support the performing arts at the high school. Judging will be provided by individuals selected from outside the BRHS community in order to insure fair and impartial results.

The date and time of the show is: Friday, March 22, 2024; 7:30PM at the BRHS auditorium.

Cash prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.



The Bridgewater Sing-Off Rules:

Participation is limited to the following categories: Vocal

Performances are limited to 3 minutes. Time starts at first note!!

All performers (including individuals and groups) must submit a registration form online at www.kimsway.org. Registration will close on Monday, February 5, 2024.

All participants must audition and be approved by the Auditions Committee in order to compete. Auditions will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024 in the BRHS Auditorium. Each registrant will be contacted by e-mail as to their audition time. Note: snow date will be Saturday, February 24, 2024

There will be three Sing-Off categories this year. You can compete (a) as a soloist and/or (b) as part of a duet and/or (c) as part of a group of three or more performers (including any non-professional accompanist). The purpose of this change is to encourage more performers to participate. A performer is allowed to compete in one act in each category.

Eligibility is limited to current students of BRHS or Bridgewater students attending Somerset County Vo-Tech. Participants will be selected on a first come, first serve basis pending suitability of content for public performance, space/equipment constraints, and the desired show length. Organizers reserve the right to close registration at any time. All acts must perform the same musical selection in the competition as used for their audition. This includes the number of people in the act, as well as the musical choice.

CATEGORIES: Competition may include the following types of performances: vocal soloist or vocal groups accompanied by one instrument. Soloists or vocal groups may also perform unaccompanied or with prerecorded music.

Absolutely no vocal backups are allowed on pre-recorded music. Any and all pre-recorded music must be provided to competition coordinators before Wednesday, March 20, 2024! A piano will be made available on stage. There will be a time limit for each performer of three minutes. This will be timed by the judges. Performers who exceed the time limit will be penalized. No special effects are allowed.

Judges will assess talent, stage presence, quality of performance, audience appeal, entertainment value and time limit. Content may not contain explicit lyrics or derogatory statements toward any individual on the basis of race, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, or ability. All decisions of the judges are final. No Judge's Score Sheet will be available to any performers following the contest.

The event organizers and the Kimberly A. Nelson Foundation, Inc., are not responsible for any lost, damaged, or stolen property. All performers understand and agree that photographs and/or video may be taken during the performances. The photos and/or video may be used for future talent committees to review for show improvements or for advertising purposes.
