Indiana Lu is extremely honored to be a recipient of the Kimberly Nelson Foundation Scholarship. Indiana has been an active member of the BRHS choir and theater departments. Beginning her
... involvement during Freshman year, Indiana found choir and theater as "Lifesavers" during the quarantine. She continued her participation throughout high school, taking on leadership roles like Alto II section leader in symphonic choir during her sophomore year and Thespian Honor Society Troupe #5154 Vice President in her junior year, then President in her senior year.
Indiana cherished her time in the BRHS theater department, on stage and off. She participated in productions in many ways, from operating the sound board for shows like Anything Goes and The Dining Room, to performing in prominent roles, such as Ismene in Antigone Now.
Indiana will be pursuing a degree in life sciences, likely with a specialization in molecular biology and biotechnology, at the University of Toronto.
Franny Murray is beyond grateful to be a 2024 Kimberly Nelson Scholarship recipient. Additionally, she is so grateful for the foundation's endless support of the arts at BRHS. Franny has been
... an active member of the BRHS choir for two years and is currently the Select Treble Ensemble's President, was a soloist at Broadway Night this past season, and had the amazing opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall her junior year.
Franny was introduced to the amazing BRHS choir program through her love of theater. Since her sophomore year, she has been in "Chicago" as a specialty dancer, "Anything Goes" as a Dance Captain and Purity, "Godspell" as a Dance Captain, and "The Dining Room" as Peggy, Sarah, The Old Lady, and a party guest. Franny's amazing cast mates introduced her to Dr. Wilson and the rest of the choir program after her first year in theater and she is forever grateful for both her theater and choir family.
Outside of school, Franny has been dancing for 15 years and her passion continues to grow. She has been a member of Gotta Dance's pre-professional dance troupe "Showstoppers" as a Dance Captain for the past four years and has had the opportunity to be cast in numerous lead roles for Jazz, Modern, Contemporary, and Musical Theater. She has also been cast as an acting lead in the Heartbeat Dance Company, is a member of the Immortal Dance Force, and has been a pointe lead for the Nutcracker Dance Ensemble.
In the fall, Franny will be attending the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers to receive her B.F.A. in Dance and hopes to make it to Broadway one day.
